Cannabis flower comes from the female plant's mature buds. THC and terpene content varies by strain (15–30% THC is the typical range on a Washington shelf). You buy it by the gram (or eighth, quarter, half, ounce) and grind + roll or pack a bowl yourself.
Top-shelf flower has tighter trim, more visible trichomes (the white crystals), bigger buds, and stronger smell. Bottom-shelf is usually older, smaller, or 'b-buds.' Both can hit similar THC %; the experience is in the cure and terpenes.
No. THC is one factor; terpene profile and cure quality matter more than people realize. A 22% with great terpenes often beats a 30% that's bland.
Smell — fresh flower is loud and complex. Squeeze gently; it should be sticky-springy, not bone-dry or wet. Look for visible trichomes, not just green color.
